Career of the Day: Granola Girl / Art Aficionado

Today, for the first time since the year I moved to Los Angeles, I'm going to the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach. I'd gotten my first toe ring there, way back when, which I never removed until it cracked apart (it was an actual ring, not a toe "cuff" like most toe rings) eight years later. Tonight, God willing, I will be sporting a new toe ring, one that will stay on me til the day I die. I've never been comfortable with total nudity, so this way I can always be wearing something.

Art is something that resonates with me, but I don't pay nearly enough attention to. Most days, the part art plays in my life is me picking out the *least* ugly piece of office furniture at Office Depot. Being a practical girl, my tastes in art lean toward a more crafty or mixed media take on things. I crochet scarves. (Very practical in Southern California!) I like recycling. I like Van Gogh, but I think it was tragic he wasted so damn much paint (have you ever seen his stuff? The paint's, like, three inches thick!). I think he would have been more of a conservationist if his brother wasn't footing his paint bill.

But, I digress. As usual.

Career of the Day: Prosperity Teacher

When I started tallying up all the tips, techniques, principles and strategies I have regarding prosperity, it took me scarcely an hour to realize I had well over 100 of them, and counting. Career of the Day: Purveyor of Freebies

This week I succumbed to peer pressure and signed up for Freebie Force. I was feeling a little mixed about it -- cripes, the stuff some companies make you go through to get a sample that will take 6-8 weeks to be delivered. I don't have the time or patience for that! But all things considered, I thought it would be a good investment. (And, in accordance with my latest credit card subscription policy, I calendared the last day I could unsubscribe if need be.)

I actually am pretty pleased with myself! I spent about an hour on Thursday night perusing all the offers, and a lot of them are totally worth it. I signed up my whole family for free burgers at Red Robin on their birthdays, found some ways to get electronics for free or a couple of dollars for shipping, found a way to use Skype to make free calls even to non-Skype users...I done good! I'm Back from my Alien Abduction

Dang, it is SO easy to fall out of a habit! (Or to fall back into the habit of not posting to my bloggie.) Fear not, it's not that I've stopped accumulating careers. I've just accumulated too many.

With the help of this site I just found, http://www.goaltribe.com (FREE during beta testing -- yee ha!), I plan to post to this regularly. I've had intermittent unpaid (given my history, it's kinda redundant to add that part) gigs as "caregiver" and "chief feline waste disposer" while an older relative has had several hospital stints. Both of these careers leave me cold, but many of us will hold them at one time or another.

Career of the Day: eArticle Writer

I've just submitted my first article to eZineArticle.com. It may be hard to believe, but I've actually done this career before! I've written many a freelance article for magazines and weeklies, and I've actually been paid for some of them. (For a long time, I thought the "free" part of "freelance" meant I wasn't getting paid.)

I've reviewed a lot of CDs and concerts in my time, sometimes traveling with bands to out of town gigs. I've also reviewed restaurants (being paid to eat? why in heck didn't I take that farther?!) and written feature articles. None of these gathered as much recognition as my letter to Glamour magazine's editor in response to an article. This letter appeared as the first one on the letters page, and for months I got calls about that letter, some from people I didn't even remember. Talk about the power of mass exposure!

It's understood that I'm not getting paid for online articles, but there are other expected benefits. Now I'm just waiting to see if it's approved and will go "live" on the eZineArticle.com website. Until then, I return to the continuing work of building my online kingdom.

Manifesting my Dreams ... with Software...?!

I purchased this Dream Manifesto Wizard software yesterday, and I have to say, I love it! I customized for myself the templates that are already part of the software, and now all my intentions appear on my computer at scheduled intervals (mine come up every 20 minutes) to remind me to put my order in to the Universe. I'd love some feedback -- tell me what you think.
I have to say, for people like me who are not always consistent with the mental work involved with manifesting, this practically does the work for me. It's like having a coach pop in regularly to remind me to keep myself on track.
